Hi there 🙂
Something yummy for your tummy ❤ … this time I tried something more elaborate. I found a recipe which I altered a bit to suit my liking. I called these Ham & Cheese Rolls because I decided to fill them in with layers of Parma ham and Swiss cheese, also adding some thinly sliced mushrooms (because everyone in my family likes them). However, you can use smoked ham; chicken pieces; salami; or maybe even smoked salmon and cream cheese – this is all about experimenting and combining ingredients you like…
Ingredients for the Dough:
- 1/2 cup milk;
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt;
- 7g of dry yeast;
- 1 tablespoon sugar;
- 1 teaspoon salt;
- 1 egg;
- 3-4 cups of flour (add according to the consistency);
- 6 tablespoons vegetable oil.
Dough Making:
Start by mixing the milk, yogurt, sugar, yeast, egg, and vegetable oil – make sure these are well blended in.
Mix the salt with the flour and add to the liquid mixture gradually – stir in well.
Knead for about 5 minutes – make sure the dough is not too moist that it sticks to your hands and fingers.
Let the dough rest for about 1 hour – Cover and place in a warm place.

After an hour of beauty rest :p .. you’ll find that the dough has gotten bigger.
Roll this out into a rectangle and layer the cheese, ham, and in my case the mushrooms to cover the dough.
You can sprinkle some oregano for a more pizza-like taste.
Roll up the dough with the filling inside so that you have one large roll.
Cut the roll into thin roll slices and place these on a greased baking tray – I lined the tray with a baking sheet and sprayed some non-stick oil.
These will look like cinnamon rolls!
Let rest for about 20 minutes – Yes, they need some more beauty sleep in the dark! :p
Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes (180°).
This recipe may look complex and time-consuming, but in reality the dough is very quick and easy to do. While you’re waiting for the dough to rest, you can always finish off some other things and get back to the recipe later 🙂 – We waste no time!

This is what I got 🙂 … (excuse me for not having photos to show during the process)
Do you like such savoury nibbles? I love pastry stuff ❤ – too bad these tend to be fattening! Well, exceptions can be made in some cases 🙂 Enjoy making these rolls and sharing them with your family 🙂 – mine loved them!
This is such a creative yet simple recipe 🙂
Thank you so much for sharing, Lea ❤ Can't wait to try this on the weekend!
